Started asking around for who was the best agency to get me a website put together and some marketing to launch the DUBE, was introduced to Selesti through Ex-Norwich City physio Dave Carolan, met them and have been working with them ever since
February 2009 Artwork
Started thinking about artwork on DUBE, it really worked and added to the possibility to get people having something truly unique but with the brilliant DUBE sound. Made the first one for Comedy Dave (Vitty from Radio 1)
June 2008 Carry Strap
..And then that led to solving practical problems like how to carry the DUBE around, I added a handle, and then even better a strap too
May 2008 Microphone
Scotty got me thinking about how someone could perform with the DUBE practically, and I had the idea of putting a microphone inside the DUBE.. so we started experimenting
April 2008 Early prototype
I remembered meeting Scotty before Christmas and gave him a ring to see if he wanted to help me get all my ideas realised, he was really enthusiastic and got on board straight away and his technical knowledge was just what I needed – he made me great early prototype
February 2008 Taking shape
Once Id settled on how I wanted the DUBE to take shape, I started looking around for suppliers to make a prototype. I first tried a chippy in Birmingham, but they didn’t exactly get their head round the idea...

I quickly learnt about the trial and error of product development, I started trying loads of different add-ons then, including even a washboard effect... I didn’t like that!
March 2007
Whilst at Norwich a brother of one of the Youth Team was handy as a carpenter - Joshy Halliday - and I got him to knock me up a proper DUBE, obviously it looked better, and it sounded amazing

I was introduced to a chap named Scotty O’Connor, a friend of the Norwich Fitness Coach at the time, in the players lounge after a game, and got talking about instruments and amplification as he owned an electrical company

I made the first ever DUBE after going to Jewsons and buying some offcuts of wood, hammer and nails.. and got a lot of cuts and bruises to show for it

I had the lightbulb moment about the shape and how it could work one morning on the at training at Norwich City, drumming on the steering wheel and the ideas started flowing then

The first time I started thinking I’d love to create a percussion instrument was during the time I was playing for Leicester City under gaffer Micky Adams (thought about drumming on his head too..)
